The successful candidate will support the ISO in maintaining the daily operations and integrity of the organisation’s ICT system and software.

JOB TITLE:  Systems and Network Administrator 

DEPARTMENT/UNIT: Strategic Services and International Affairs 

ORGANISATION:  Regional Security System Headquarters 

REPORTS TO: Information Systems Officer 

MAIN SCOPE AND SUMMARY: The Systems and Network Administrator supports the ISO with maintaining the daily operations and integrity of the organisation’s ICT system and software. This role involves supporting the ISO with managing and maintaining RSS HQ’s IT and Network infrastructure, including installing, configuring, and supporting server infrastructure, local area networks 2  (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), intranets, extranets and other data communication systems. The Systems and Network Administrator ensures system and network availability, performance, and security through regular maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Additionally, the Administrator is responsible for ensuring the proper management of the service support needs of the computer system users.    

 

KEY DUTIES 

The duties of the Systems and Network Administrator include: 

1. Manage and maintain RSS HQ’s IT infrastructure, including installing, configuring and supporting Windows and Linux server infrastructure, application server software and database services, intranets, extranets and other security and data communications systems. 

2. Manage and maintain RSS HQ’s IT network infrastructure, including installing, configuring and supporting network appliances such as firewalls, routers, switches, access points, wireless bridges, operations and services, local area networks, wide area networks and other security management and monitoring systems. 

3. Perform regular backups of the information system and ensure disaster recovery readiness. 

4. Overseeing and aiding RSS HQ internal and external users of Information and Communications Technology devices with major IT issues. 

5. Support the ISO on matters related to the design, development, and application of automated information processing systems. 

6. Oversees provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.  

7. Supports the ISO with the management of ICT assets per RSS HQ ICT policies, as required.  

8. Assist with the training of internal and external users/clients in the use of computer software and hardware, provided/supported by RSS HQ. 

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENT  

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or any related fields and/or advanced technical qualifications and certification (for example, MCSE, MCSA, CCNA, Network 3 Administration, Network Security) from a recognised University or Institution; 

2. At least (three) 3 years’ work experience in ICT field as a system or network administrator; 

3. Possess commensurate knowledge and skills in managing and supporting computer and server-based operating systems and enterprise applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Windows Server, Fortinet security platforms, and Linux distributions; 

4. Strong customer service and problem-solving mindset that will support daily operational capability and objectives; 

5. Must be capable of handling multiple different types of information technology responsibilities in quick succession to support daily operational capability and objectives; 

6. Strong communication to support non-technical users and external client/user requirements with any ICT resource provided/supported by RSS HQ; 

7. Ability to adapt to evolving technological needs in Small, Medium-term and Enterprise environments; 

8. Ability to conduct hardware and software evaluations, and perform selection and acquisition functions, using established RSS HQ procurement processes.   

 

HOURS OF WORK 

The office working hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Employees may, however, be required to work outside of these hours, subject to the exigencies of the organisation. 

 

CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT 

 The Contract of Employment is at the discretion of the Executive Director, Regional Security System.
