Regional Financial Crime Experts Participate In JITs Training In Barbados

  Investigators, prosecutors, customs officials, intelligence officers, and technical experts from across the region, are participating in a five-day JITs training workshop at the Courtyard by Marriott Bridgetown in Barbados.  Regional security and law enforcement professionals are participating in a five-day Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) workshop aimed at strengthening the Caribbean’s capacity to combat transnational organised crime, illicit financial flows, and complex financial investigations. The training, which is being held at the Courtyard by Marriott Bridgetown, Barbados, is being hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in collaboration with the Regional Security System Headquarters (RSS HQ). It has brought together investigators, prosecutors, customs officials, intelligence officers, and technical experts from across the region. Caribbean States Commit To Advancing Joint Investigation Teams Framework

  Director of Strategic Services and International Affairs at the RSS, Rhea Reid-Bowen, stated t hat a regional JIT framework would significantly improve the speed and coordination of criminal investigations across the Caribbean.  Caribbean states have committed to advancing the development of a regional framework for Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) following a two-day legal forum hosted in Barbados. During the forum, which was hosted by the Office of the Attorney General of Barbados and sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank and the Regional Security System (RSS), mechanisms for strengthening cross-border financial investigations and asset recovery were examined.   The RSS/IDB Legal Forum on Joint Investigation Teams for Financial Investigations and Asset Recovery in the Caribbean was held at The Hilton, Barbados. Attorneys General, legal experts, prosecutors, policymakers, and regional security stakeholders from across the Caribbean gathered in Barbados over the past two days for a Legal Forum aimed at advancing the development of a regional model legal framework for Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) for Financial Investigations and Asset Recovery (FIAR) in the Caribbean. This event was hosted by the Office of the Attorney General of Barbados, in collaboration with the Regional Security System (RSS) and the Inter-American Development Bank, as part of the ONE Caribbean programme.
