(CG) Rolerick Sobers    As we observe World Maritime Day 2025 , our attention turns to the health and care of the marine environment, and the many ways our oceans sustain life and livelihood. From trade and commerce to travel, tourism, and recreation, countless activities depend on ocean-going vessels and the safe, sustainable use of our seas. How we use this precious resource will determine the true return on investment for individuals, corporations, and countries alike. While most maritime activities are pursued for noble purposes, we must always remain mindful of the safety of mariners and the wider community of ocean users. Security across the maritime commons is critical to ensuring that people can carry out their legitimate activities safely, free from harassment, and without harm to their livelihoods.
